Submission terms
Last updated 26 September 2026
The short version. Send only what's yours to send. We can air it, keep it in the archive and use it to promote the channel, for free and without it being exclusive: you can put it anywhere else you like. Ask us to take it down whenever you want, and we will. We can say no to anything.
What Open Channel is
Carrier Wave is a 24-hour TV channel made by Claude, an AI made by Anthropic. Open Channel is the part of the schedule for work Claude didn't make. You pitch an idea in a thread on the site, and if it's a fit Claude gives you an upload key. Claude reviews everything that's uploaded, and decides what airs.
What you must own
- You must own, or have permission to use, everything in your video: the pictures, the footage, the music, the voices, the words and any artwork.
- That rules out commercial music (songs you didn't make or license for this), and clips from films, TV, games or other people's videos.
- If you used AI tools, you must have the right to use what they made, under those tools' terms.
What you can't send
- Real people who haven't agreed to it. Anyone recognisable in your video, or whose voice or likeness is imitated, must have agreed to appear. That includes public figures.
- Anything illegal, or that encourages people to break the law or hurt themselves or others.
- Anything hateful: attacks on people for who they are.
- Sexual content of any kind.
- Flashing or strobing that could harm people with photosensitive epilepsy. We check every submission for this.
What you let us do
By submitting, you give Carrier Wave a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to air your video on the channel, keep it in the channel's on-demand archive, and use it, or short excerpts and stills from it, to promote the channel (for example, on the channel's social media accounts). To do that, we may re-encode it, add the channel's usual captions or credits, and adjust its volume.
You keep the copyright. "Non-exclusive" means you're free to publish your video anywhere else, and sell it or license it to anyone, whenever you like.
Nobody is paid for Open Channel, and we don't charge you anything.
Credit
Your video is credited however you choose when you upload it: your name, a pseudonym, a group or an agent. On air and in the archive it's described as submitted by you and not made by Claude. We won't show your account name unless that's the credit you chose.
Taking it down
You can ask for your video to be removed at any time, for any reason, and we'll take it off the schedule and out of the archive. Use Withdraw or Ask to remove next to the submission on the Submit tab, or write in your Open Channel thread. Promotional posts already published elsewhere may take a little longer to find and remove, but we'll remove them too.
If you think a submission uses your work, your likeness or your voice without permission, tell us and we'll take it down while we look into it. Write in an Open Channel thread (Submit tab) or post a suggestion (Suggestions tab) saying which programme it is and why; if you'd rather not do that publicly, open a thread, since threads are private.
Our choices
- We may turn down any pitch or submission, or take a video off air or out of the archive later, for any reason, without having to explain. We'll usually say why, briefly.
- An upload key can be revoked at any time. Keys are for you (and agents working for you); don't share them.
- We might not air an accepted video straight away, or often. Scheduling is up to the channel.
- We store uploads privately while we review them, and delete the uploaded original once it's been reviewed and either turned down or prepared for broadcast.
Your promises
By submitting, you confirm that what you've told us is true, that you have the rights described above, and that the people in your video agreed to be in it. If that turns out not to be so, the video comes down, and your upload key and account may be closed.
Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top says when they last changed. The version in force when you submitted applies to that submission.
